We are 2 blocks from the Amtrak Station, and within walking distance of many shops, historical sites, the public library, and eating establishments in our downtown and surrounding areas.

Directions to Waterworks

From I-85: Take Interstate 85 to Exit 76. If coming from the south (Charlotte area) turn left at the bottom of the exit ramp onto Innes Street (Hwy. 52). If coming from the north (Greensboro area) turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp onto Innes Street (Hwy. 52). Make a right on Main Street (downtown Salisbury), make a right on Liberty Street.

Parking

Free on-street parking is available on East Liberty, North Lee, and East Council streets, and in the "Depot Lot" at the corner of East Council and Depot streets. All free parking is within two blocks of Waterworks. Handicap parking spaces are available at the entrance to Waterworks.

During non-business hours, free parking is available in the F&M Bank lot which adjoins Waterworks. To access the F&M Bank lot please use the Liberty Street entrance and pull slowly up to the automatic gate. Gate arm will lift as you approach.

To Schedule a Tour

Reservations are encouraged at least four weeks in advance for all groups to view the exhibitions. Please continue to our Schedule a Tour page to book a time.

There is no cost to tour the exhibitions, however there is a fee to reserve a Group Tour with Guide for groups of 12+.

Group Tours with Guide are available on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays, only.

Payment for a Group Tour with Guide is due at the time reservation is scheduled. Please plan carefully, fees are non-refundable.

Please note: School Tour Groups are scheduled Tuesday-Friday, 9am-1pm, September 17 through December 18 and January 8 through May 15.

What to Expect

There is NO CHARGE for admission. Donations are greatly appreciated.

Photography is not permitted in the galleries. We do offer contact information for artists and you may communicate with them directly for any additional information, prices and/or photographs of their work(s).

Waterworks is a handicap accessible facility. We provide designated parking spaces, wide entrance doors and an elevator for access to the 2nd floor. Benches are provided throughout the galleries for those who need to sit.

We offer visitors a sculpture courtyard, sensory gardens, and three revolving exhibitions annually featuring some of the most creative and expressive artwork from regional and national emerging/ established artists.

This highly honored accreditation brings national recognition to a museum for its commitment to excellence, accountability, high professional standards, and continued institutional improvement.
