In 2019, Waterworks Visual Arts Center celebrates 60 years of the visual arts in Rowan County!
Waterworks is an exciting place where ideas, issues, and communities converge to expand traditional ways of thinking and explore the unfolding patterns between artistic and cultural spheres. Highlighting a unique blend of education, inspiration, creativity, and fun, Waterworks serves as the anchor organization for Salisbury's East Square Cultural Arts District and is the only teaching museum within a forty-mile radius of Salisbury-Rowan County.
The museum is accessible to all six days a week, free of charge.
Waterworks is a leader and innovator in the exhibition of art and in museum education. Creative and expressive artwork from established and emerging regional and local professional artists is featured in three rotating exhibitions annually.
Waterworks offers visual arts education for all ages. The scholarship fund covers class tuition for up to 20 students (youth through adult) each year. Scholarships are available for Summer ARTventures classes, as well as classes and workshops throughout the year.
